Beverly Tadeu
Formerly trained in sculpture and lithography, it was during her years of living abroad in Latin America that Tadeu was first captivated by the sensuous joys of forming and forging metal.
Beverly
Tadeu discovered metalsmithing during her nomadic years living abroad
in Latin America. She quickly became fascinated with the sculptural
quality intrinsic in art jewelry.
Tadeu's current Rooted work is
comprised of 18 karat gold and oxidized silver. Forging and forming
are used to create the intricate woven patterns. The interlacing wires
require countless tiny solder points, creating strength and durability
in what appears to be a fragile and delicate art jewelry piece. It
is the negative space that intrigues Beverly, the contrast between
fragility and strength, between the sensual, raw blackness and opulence
of the gold, the interruptions that cause pause both in art and in life.
